Student Activities

Annin

There are many opportunities for students to get involved in the school community.

Field Day

William Annin hosts  a whole school  Field Day, a day designed to encourage camaraderie, teamwork, friendly competition, and fun as we build community.  Students participate in outdoor activities such as volleyball, speedball, and relay races, as well as indoor activities such as Brain Bowl, Minute to Win It, and Draw Something.  Of course, lunch and WAMS t-shirts always add to the spirit of the day!

Extracurricular Pay to Play and Free clubs

The extracurricular clubs are available to any WAMS students.  Each September, an email blast is sent out to parents with a package describing the current year's pay to play and free clubs, their meeting dates, and requirements.

Standard WAMS School Clubs/Programs

These clubs or programs are offered every year and open to all students.  They are described below.

HOMEWORK CLUB

Advisors:
Ms. Esposito
Ms. Corigliano

Homework Club provides a quiet setting for students to complete their homework, work on long and short-term projects, and study for upcoming tests. It meets from 2:25-3:25 pm Monday-Thursday.

PEER LEADERSHIP PROGRAM

6th Grade Advisor: Ms. Cara Rychecky
7th Grade Advisor: Ms. Courtney Slack
8th Grade Advisor: Ms. Caitlin Annese

The Peer Leader program is a service organization that gives students the opportunity to assist others in our school and local community. It is perfect for students who are interested in demonstrating the Viking Values, promoting positive behavior in school, and being involved in community service related projects at William Annin and in Basking Ridge.  At our meetings, we typically work on team building skills, leadership skills, and character development while we plan and promote various events. Throughout the year, we host the 6th grade Family Carnival, collect gifts for Toys of Kindness around the holidays, assist with the 5th grade Parent Night, write teacher appreciation letters, and more. This program has the potential to be challenging, personally satisfying, and exciting! Any student who wishes to join Peer Leaders should check the Peer Leaders Website  for information and the permission form.

STUDENT COUNCIL

Advisors:
Marissa Klapow
Jen Winters

Student Council is the student governing body at William Annin. This club is great for students interested in leadership positions and those who want to make a difference in their school and the wider community. Some of our events include a Thanksgiving Dinner Food Drive, the WAMS Slams Charity Event, and the “lunch with” program, which invites local community members like the police department and Mayor to have lunch with us. The student council works as representatives for the whole student body to collect feedback and present it to important stakeholders, such as the Board of Education. Each year, students work together to discover new ideas to improve our
school and brainstorm exciting ways to make those ideas come to life! All grade levels are welcome.  We meet on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month in Room 411.

WAMS YEARBOOK

Jill Ann Hamilton – Yearbook Advisor
[email protected]

The yearbook staff consists of 20 to 25  staff members. Yearbook staff members are involved in taking pictures, selecting layouts, writing captions, proofreading names, adding clip art, creating collages, and monitoring staff progress at meetings.

Being responsible, cooperative, committed, and hard-working are just a few of the attributes that the staff must provide in order to ensure the production and success of the yearbook publication.

The yearbook contains pages of student pictures, captions, clip art, and memorable moments. Each staff member is assigned to work on a specific section of the book and is given a deadline upon which to complete his/her assignment.
